ScholarshipsHeading off to college? Take a look at our scholarship programs.

Members First Credit Union believes that through education we are investing in the youth of today who will go on to lead our community and help make the world a better place. We created the Members First Credit Union Memorial Scholarship Program to aid students in their quest for further education.

Applications are available in January and must be postmarked or delivered to the credit union no later than March 31 each year. Winners are notified in June.

Among other qualifiers that are unique for each scholarship, applicants must be members of Members First Credit Union (in New Hampshire) for at least one year, or have a parent/guardian who has been a member of the credit union for at least one year. Note that, although there are several Members First Credit Unions across the country, qualified applicants must be members of this credit union, located in New Hampshire, specifically.

Members First Credit Union Memorial Scholarship

Three $1,000 Scholarships

Each year Members First Credit Union awards three memorial scholarships representing past members of our Board of Directors, all of whom have served both their communities and Members First in ways that will always be remembered and appreciated.

John S. Walsh Memorial Scholarship

One $1,000 Scholarship

Manchester firefighter John S. Walsh founded Members First Credit Union, formerly known as the Manchester Municipal Employees Credit Union, in 1949. In the beginning, John operated the credit union out of his briefcase from the Somerville Street fire station. This scholarship was created to honor Mr. Walsh and his passion for Members First and the entire credit union industry.

Wilbur L. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship

One $1,000 Scholarship

Wilbur L. Jenkins served as a Director on the Supervisory Committee of Members First Credit Union for 34 years. Mr. Jenkins was also the first Personnel Director for the City of Manchester. This scholarship was created to honor Mr. Jenkins' unwavering loyalty and dedication to Members First Credit Union.

Michael L. Briggs Memorial Scholarship

One $2,500 Scholarship

Officer Michael L. Briggs was a dedicated policeman and five-year veteran of the Manchester Police Department. Wounded in the line of duty, he passed away in October 2006 as a result of those injuries. This scholarship was created to honor Officer Briggs and his heroic dedication to the City of Manchester.
