Animal Rescue League of NH – Community Resources

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire helps more than 2,200 cats, dogs, and small animals each year. ARLNH has a well-known presence through its shelter, first in Goffstown, and later in Bedford. Beyond the shelter, ARLNH also offers a wide array of community resources and outreach programs. Many services are open to all NH residents, with an additional focus on several local communities.

Community Resources

Report Animal Cruelty. This resource page offers help understanding what animal cruelty is, and when and how to report it; and also provides links to the relevant New Hampshire criminal codes.

Medical Financial Assistance (CAAF). ARLNH’s Companion Animal Assistance Fund is designed to help keep pets in loving homes by assisting owners with an unexpected, one-time medical expense that is beyond their means. Find out how it works and start an application on this page.

Lost and Found Animals. Whether you have lost or found a pet, you can report it here, and also review the other reports to look for a match. This page also offers several helpful tips for recovering a lost pet.

Pet Resource Library. This library contains links to downloadable educational resources including first time pet owner information, behavioral resources, and care sheets.

Pet Food Pantry. ARLNH offers supplementary food assistance to help pet owners who are struggling to feed their pets. Assistance includes dry and canned food as well as necessary supplies when they are available.

Humane Education Program. The Humane Education Library is part of the 2021 Eagle Scout project of Cora Steichen (Bedford), and consists of more than 200 books geared towards readers from Pre-K to 4th grade, with a focus on thoughtfully teaching kids about animals, humane animal care concepts, how to safely interact with animals, wellness, and more.

Safe Haven Temporary Housing. This program is designed to address the need to protect pets involved in domestic violence cases, since few shelters for humans have the ability to house animals.

Spay & Neuter Clinics. ARLNH offers public spay/neuter services for dogs, cats, and rabbits for members of the community who are in need of low-cost assistance.

We look forward to sharing more about the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire throughout the month of April.
