The Moore Center – a Story in Pictures

Each month, our Spotlight Nonprofit opens their story to us. Often, that includes meaningful personal stories about their clients that give a clearer view of not only their mission, but also their impact on the community. The Moore Center shared these wonderful photos and captions – giving us a story in pictures:

Peter is a member of The Moore Center’s Community Support Services (CBS). This program supports individuals in maintaining independence in their own homes or apartments. Peter’s staff helps him continue to develop life skills, while also helping him to engage in fun activities. They spend most of their time doing household chores - like grocery shopping, cleaning, and cooking - but sometimes Peter gets to enjoy things like miniature golf, too!

Matt is a part of The Moore Center’s Community-Based Services (CBS). Matt spends time in the community working on goals and participating in activities, and he has grown to become an independent member of our community. He loves trying new things, and as you can see, Matt really enjoyed this science experiment!

Here, Matt and his peers are participating in a cooking class with student-learners from Saint Anselm College. Saint Anselm College has provided many opportunities for our clients to grow and participate in fun activities, and is a wonderful partner to The Moore Center.

Ian is part of The Moore Center’s Customized Employment program. He has the opportunity to gain independence at work while having a job coach available to support him, if needed. Ian started working at a local restaurant last year and does a wonderful job, and he’s become a valued and productive member of the workforce.

Patty is a member of our Community-Based Services where she has the opportunity to participate in activities with her peers and learn skills. Patty participates in various arts and crafts projects, and here she’s learning a bit about gardening and painting a pot before she plants a flower in it.

Dan is a member of The Moore Center’s self-advocacy group, The Rising Stars. The group runs an executive council and works together to increase advocacy skills and fundraise for fun community activities, such as a visit to the SEE Science center. Dan is enjoying their interactive exhibit that helps people learn about pulleys.

Nancy and Robin are members of The Moore Centers Community-Based Services Employment program, where they work together with other individuals and an on-site job coach who supports them as needed. Nancy and Robin work in housekeeping at a local hotel and have worked there together for many years. When they’re not working, they also participate in community activities supported by Moore Center staff.

Through the end of the month, we invite you to join us in supporting The Moore Center by making a donation of non-perishable food items at any of our three Members First branches.
