We’ve been shining a spotlight on Big Brothers Big Sisters of New Hampshire all month, sharing their own story and stories of some big and little ‘siblings’ who have been positively impacted by the organization’s mentorship programs. If you are inspired to become part of the BBBSNH story, there is more than one way to get involved.
Their primary focus currently revolves around recruiting volunteer mentors. With nearly one hundred young people patiently waiting for support, BBBSNH is in dire need of volunteers. It is essential to ensure that every youth on the waitlist finds a mentor, prompting Big Brothers Big Sisters of NH to initiate a Recruitment Campaign in the summer of 2023. While this effort successfully addressed many needs, there remains a requirement for additional volunteers. Excitingly, a second Recruitment Campaign titled "Spring into something BIG!" is set to launch this spring, running from March 15 to April 19. They invite all interested individuals to join them in making a meaningful impact!
If you would like to become a mentor, signing up starts with a simple click. Visit BBBSNH.org/get-involved/be-a-big and click “Volunteer Sign Up.” After that, a dedicated staff member on the BBBSNH Enrollment team will reach out to get the process going. The process is thorough, including background checks, detailed interviews with staff members, and volunteer training guides to ensure safety and respectful boundaries, as well as a meaningful match.
Another great way to get involved is to make a financial contribution. At BBBSNH, donations play a vital role in sustaining the mission. The dedicated 'Bigs' who serve as mentors generously volunteer their time every month to support their Littles/mentees. While these mentoring services are offered at no cost, each life-transforming mentoring match requires approximately $2,500 annually for creation and ongoing support. Every donation, regardless of size, directly influences the lives of children, making a profound difference.
