Wilbur L. Jenkins served Members First Credit Union with extraordinary dedication, spending 34 years as a Director on the Supervisory Committee—a tenure that reflects his unwavering loyalty and commitment to the credit union and the members it serves.

Jenkins was the City of Manchester’s first Personnel Director, appointed to lead the effort to professionalize and strengthen municipal human resources in the late 1960s and serving in that role through his retirement in 1990. In both capacities, he brought professionalism, integrity, and leadership that helped shape organizational excellence within the credit union and the broader Manchester community.

Beyond his institutional roles, Jenkins was known for being deeply engaged in community life and supportive of initiatives that fostered economic opportunity and civic participation. His long service on the Supervisory Committee helped ensure that Members First remained accountable to its members and upheld the cooperative values at the heart of the credit union movement.

The Wilbur L. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship honors his long-standing commitment to Members First and his belief in strong organizational leadership. It supports students pursuing fields such as business management, marketing, accounting, finance, computer science, and human resources—areas that reflect Jenkins’ dedication to sound governance and community empowerment.


General Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of Members First Credit Union of New Hampshire for at least one year by the application deadline OR have a parent or legal guardian who has been a member for at least one year.
  • Be a full-time student currently enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited undergraduate college or university.
  • Meet any additional eligibility requirements specific to this scholarship.
  • Submit a complete application.
  • Provide a current academic transcript.

A lifetime maximum of two (2) scholarships may be awarded per applicant.

Additional Eligibility for This Scholarship

Applicants must be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited undergraduate college or university program in one of the following fields:

  • Business Management
  • Marketing
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Computer Science
  • Human Resources
