Each year, Members First Credit Union awards scholarships to support local students as they pursue higher education and take important steps toward their future. These scholarships also honor individuals who have served our credit union and our community in meaningful and lasting ways.
At Members First, we believe in supporting local students by making our scholarship opportunities clear, accessible, and designed to help them move forward with confidence.

General Eligibility Requirements
While each scholarship has its own purpose and criteria, all applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Member of Members First Credit Union (New Hampshire) for at least one year by the application deadline, or have a parent or legal guardian who has been a Member for at least one year. Membership must be with Members First Credit Union located in New Hampshire.
- Be a full-time student currently enrolled in, or accepted to, an accredited undergraduate college or university
- Meet the specific eligibility requirements for each scholarship applied for
- Submit a complete application
- Provide a current academic transcript
Applicants may receive a maximum of two scholarships over their lifetime.

- MFCU Memorial Scholarship
Members First awards three memorial scholarships honoring former Board members whose dedication, integrity, and service helped shape our credit union and the Greater Manchester community. Through the MFCU Memorial Scholarship, we continue their legacy by supporting students who demonstrate promise, purpose, and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
- John S. Walsh Memorial Scholarship
The John S. Walsh Memorial Scholarship honors his legacy of public service and community stewardship by supporting employees of the City of Manchester or the Manchester School District—and their children—as they pursue higher education and carry forward his commitment to building secure financial futures.
- Wilbur L. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship
The Wilbur L. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship honors Jenkins’ 34 years of dedicated service on Members First Credit Union’s Supervisory Committee and his lasting impact as the City of Manchester’s first Personnel Director. A champion of strong governance, professionalism, and community engagement, Jenkins helped shape organizational excellence within both the credit union and the broader Manchester community. This scholarship supports students pursuing degrees in business management, marketing, accounting, finance, computer science, or human resources—fields that reflect his commitment to leadership, accountability, and economic opportunity.
- Michael L. Briggs Memorial Scholarship
The Michael L. Briggs Memorial Scholarship honors the life and sacrifice of Manchester Police Officer Michael L. Briggs, who was killed in the line of duty in October 2006. A Marine Corps veteran and dedicated public servant, Briggs devoted his life to protecting his community and was recognized for extraordinary heroism and service during his time with the Manchester Police Department. This scholarship supports aspiring law enforcement officers, honoring Officer Briggs’s courage, commitment to duty, and lasting legacy of service to the Manchester community.
