Your MasterCard® debit card comes with added protection.
Your free debit card comes with chip-enabled security, the latest technology in plastic payments for combating identity theft. When used at a chip-enabled terminal at the point of sale or an ATM, a small computer chip embedded in the card adds a layer of protection against unauthorized use. If a merchant hasn’t upgraded its terminal to accept chip cards, simply swipe your card along the magnetic strip instead.
And, with enhanced fraud protection already in place, your debit card transactions are monitored in real time and subject to specialized fraud filters. If activity on your account is deemed potentially fraudulent, you will automatically receive a call from MasterCard alerting you of suspicious activity.
For added protection, sign up for MasterCard’s identity theft alerts.
