Debit Card

Your MasterCard® debit card comes with added protection.

Your free debit card is Apple Pay™ and Google Pay™ ready and comes with chip-enabled security for combating identity theft. When used at a chip-enabled terminal at the point of sale or an ATM, a small computer chip embedded in the card adds a layer of protection against unauthorized use. If a merchant hasn’t upgraded its terminal to accept chip cards, simply swipe your card along the magnetic strip instead.

And, with enhanced fraud protection automatically in place, your debit card transactions are monitored in real time for unusual activity.

The quickest way to notify you of suspected fraudulent activity is by text. With Premium Enfact® Text Notifications, you'll receive a text message* from 37268 if suspicious transactions are detected. Simply respond to the text to validate the activity. If you confirm the activity is legitimate, no further action is necessary – you can carry on using your card. If you indicate the activity is fraudulent, your card will be frozen and you will receive a phone number to call for follow up.

There is no need to enroll in this service. Simply ensure we have your mobile number on file to automatically receive text fraud alerts. To confirm we have your mobile number on file or to update your records, please contact us.

For added protection, sign up for MasterCard’s identity theft alerts.

Notify us of your travel plans.

You’re all packed and ready to go on your next vacation. We want you to enjoy your time away and still offer you the same debit card fraud protection you have come to trust from Members First. Notify us of your travel plans and we can do just that!

Currently, if Members First detects transactions from an unfamiliar location, we may assume your debit card is being used fraudulently and shut it off. Notifying us you’re traveling allows us to adjust your debit card’s specialized filters, which help to prevent identity theft and unwanted usage, while allowing you the freedom to use your debit card how you want.

You can notify us of your plans by logging in to Online Banking, choosing Manage My Card, and selecting Debit Card Travel Notice. Complete the form and it will be directed to our Deposit Services team. Or, if you prefer, give us a call at (603) 622-8781 or toll-free at 1 (800) 860-3832.

Here are some tips for using your debit card abroad:

  • Confirm your withdrawal limits
  • Check our ATM locator to see if there are surcharge-free ATMs at your destination
  • Review your PIN – many foreign ATMs only support four-digit PINs that don’t start with zero
  • Debit cards can get stolen – it is always best to have a second form of payment available

The MasterCard® Automatic Billing Updater provides you with a seamless transition when your debit card expires or is replaced.

This free service will automatically update the card number and/or expiration date on file if you have recurring payments or account-on-file transactions set up using your debit card. Any of your merchants that participate in this program will automatically receive your updated debit card information.

Payments Impacted

These are just some examples of recurring and account-on-file transactions you may have set up using your debit card for payment:

  • Streaming services
  • Monthly utilities
  • Gym memberships
  • Insurance premiums
  • Ride services
  • Shopping websites
  • Online payment services
  • Prescriptions

What This Means to You

When your card expires or is re-issued for any reason such as normal expiration, loss, theft, or compromise, you won’t have to update your payment information with participating merchants. Instead, you can:

  • Skip the time and hassle of re-entering or resubmitting your payment info
  • Avoid declined payments and service interruptions
  • Count on us to keep your card information secure

What You Need to Do

There is no action required on your part to activate the automatic billing updater. You are automatically enrolled simply for being a MasterCard® debit card holder with Members First Credit Union. Please be aware, however, that neither MasterCard® nor Members First can guarantee that updates will be communicated to merchants prior to your next billing date.

If you wish to opt-out of this service, you may do so by calling us at 1-800-860-3832. If you opt-out of this automatic update, you will need to manually update your auto-charge merchants whenever you receive an updated MasterCard® debit card.

For added fraud protection, Members First debit cardholders are encouraged to sign up for MasterCard's Identity Theft Alerts. This free monitoring service uses internet surveillance technology to monitor websites and data for any confidential cardholder information and alerts you if it detects your personal information is being bought or sold online. This can include financial institution accounts, credit and debit cards, social security number, driver's license, passport, or email accounts.

To enroll, visit the MasterCard website.
