FIT – Community Impact by the Numbers

As we spotlight Families in Transition this month, we are learning a lot about their mission and the positive impact they have on our community. For more than thirty years they have been working to prevent and break the cycle of homelessness.

Statistics don’t tell the whole story, but the numbers do provide a sense of the impact they have. Over the course of 2022, FIT served more than 9,500 members of the community. Their adult emergency shelter provided safe lodging to an average of 130 people each night. They served nearly 200,000 meals to program participants. Over 500 individuals benefited from their housing programs, and nearly 8,000 from their food pantry.

Families in Transition exercised their mission with the help of more than 700 volunteers in 2022, who offered well over 17,000 hours of volunteer work.

Their own infographic provides further details, and they anticipate publishing a similar summary for 2023. You can follow their website for the latest updates, and we’ll continue to share their story on our social media throughout the month of January.
