At Members First Credit Union, community support isn’t just something we talk about; it’s something we invest in. Through our Illuminating Change program, we’re proud to spotlight organizations that are creating meaningful, measurable impact across New Hampshire.
For January, we’re honored to introduce Granite State Generosity as our first Beacon Partner, a volunteer-powered nonprofit proving that neighbor-to-neighbor generosity can change lives.
A Mission Rooted in Community Care
Granite State Generosity (GSG) exists to support individuals and families across New Hampshire who are living with disabilities or battling life-threatening illness. Their focus is simple but powerful: helping cover essential expenses not paid by insurance, which are the kinds of costs that can quickly become overwhelming during already difficult times.
What makes GSG especially remarkable is how they do this work.
The organization is 100% volunteer-run, with no paid staff. Every dollar raised and every hour given is driven by community members who believe deeply in showing up for one another. Donations go directly toward helping people in need, not administrative overhead, reinforcing GSG’s commitment to transparency, trust, and grassroots impact.
Impact That Speaks for Itself
Since their first full year of operation in 2024, Granite State Generosity has doubled the number of individuals and families they’ve been able to help. Over 90% of every dollar raised goes directly toward their mission, supporting verified medical and financial needs through referrals from physicians and social workers.
The impact of that support is felt immediately and deeply.
“I cannot emphasize enough how BIG of an impact this organization has had on my patients. I appreciate all that you do.”
— Solinsky Center Social Worker
“Treatments prevented me from regular employment, and their support truly helped lessen my financial load.”
— J.H., battling multiple cancers
For families, that assistance can mean access to life-changing tools.
“This little girl absolutely lights up to share her communication device. Having access to words at home and school has changed everything.”
— Mother of a child receiving an adaptive communication device
Behind every story is a small but mighty group of volunteers—eight women from southern New Hampshire—coordinating support, organizing fundraisers, and ensuring that help reaches people when they need it most.
“Volunteering with GSG is consistently a fun and rewarding experience. The board’s passion is contagious, and the appreciation they show never goes unnoticed.”
— Granite State Generosity Volunteer
