Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) – Get Involved

As we wrap up our spotlight on Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL), it’s clear that the organization is doing critical work to support youth in Manchester. However, MPAL’s success is largely dependent on the generosity of volunteers and donors. Here’s how you can help ensure MPAL continues to be a positive force in the community.

Volunteer Opportunities

MPAL relies on volunteers to run its athletic, educational, and enrichment programs, which operate throughout the school year. Recruiting and retaining volunteers is an ongoing challenge, especially since these programs are continuous, not seasonal. While MPAL is fortunate to have a core group of committed volunteers, they are always in need of more helping hands to ensure program continuity. Building a pipeline of volunteers who are trained and ready to serve is critical to MPAL’s future success.

There are many ways to get involved through volunteering. Current opportunities include becoming a Cooking Class Assistant, Coach, Diversion Panel Member, helping with Admin Support, or providing Facility Maintenance. If you're interested, you can download the Volunteer Interest Packet or contact Adrienne Royal for more details at aroyal@manchesterpoliceathleticleague.org.

Additionally, MPAL’s Juvenile Court Diversion (JCD) program is facing an increase in referrals, both in volume and intensity. With more violent and gang-related cases coming through the doors, MPAL is partnering with other local organizations to provide resources for youth with anger management and social/emotional skills challenges. Volunteers play a vital role in these efforts, offering mentorship, guidance, and support to participants.

How to Donate

Monetary donations are essential to MPAL’s operations, as all programs are offered completely free of charge. Without membership dues or fees, MPAL depends on contributions from generous supporters to continue making a difference in the lives of local youth. Donations of any size directly support programming, facility maintenance, and resources for participants.

You can donate online via Facebook or through MPAL’s PayPal page, or get involved by participating in one of MPAL’s major fundraising events, including:

Footrace for the Fallen (September 29, 2024): A 5K race in remembrance of officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

MPAL Ball (October 11, 2024): A formal evening of dining, entertainment, and celebration of MPAL’s impact on the community.

PizzaFest (February 2025): A competition where local pizza shops vie for the title of best slice, judged by MPAL kids and police officers.

The A-Maizing Cornament (May 2025): A fun-filled cornhole tournament that brings the community together for some friendly competition.

Whether through volunteering your time or contributing financially, your support can have a profound impact on Manchester’s youth. To learn more about getting involved, visit the Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL) website.
