For September, we're excited to spotlight the Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL), a local nonprofit that plays a vital role in fostering positive relationships between the youth of Greater Manchester and the Manchester Police Department. MPAL’s mission is grounded in creating meaningful connections that positively impact the lives of young people, giving them the guidance and resources they need to grow into confident, productive members of our community.

MPAL was founded in 1992 with the belief that youth need mentors who can offer support beyond traditional classroom environments. Through partnerships with members of the Manchester Police Department, MPAL provides a unique platform where officers serve as mentors to kids in a safe, structured environment. By offering a variety of athletic, educational, and enrichment programs during critical after-school hours, MPAL helps keep youth engaged, active, and on the right track. Their mentoring programs extend beyond the gym and classroom, focusing on character development, decision-making skills, and helping young people make positive life choices.

The range of programs offered includes boxing, judo, wrestling, fitness, and more. MPAL is dedicated to making sure that every child has access to these opportunities, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.
